COVID-19 cases on the rise in Mexicali

Baja California remains on the yellow traffic light

MEXICALI, B.C. (KYMA, KECY) - Mexican health officials advise residents not to attending large group gatherings.

La Voz de la Frontera reported Mexicali continues to have the highest cases in Baja California (B.C.). The Secretary of Health, Alonso Pérez Rico, said B.C. would remain in the yellow traffic light as cases keep increasing.

Pérez Rico said restrictive measures will continue to be placed for a week since Mexicali continues to have new cases every day. "We strongly ask you not to meet right now, COVID-19 is still active, for the good of all wear your mask for the love of God," he said.

La Voz reports as of May 9, 8,003 people have died from the virus.
