Arizona lawmaker catches COVID months after vaccination
TUCSON, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Tucson Democratic Representative Alma Hernandez gets COVID-19 after been fully vaccinated for nearly three months.
Rep. Hernandez tweeted that even though she got the vaccine, it does mean you're in the clear. In her tweets, she says so far, she has fever, migraines, and has lost her taste and smell.
Rep. Hernandez issued a statement Wednesday stating, " Despite wide availability of vaccines, we must continue to take precautions to slow the spread. It is up to all of us to work together to defeat this pandemic."
She makes it clear, she is in "no way advocating people not to get vaccinated." On the contrary, Rep. Hernandez says not to let your guard down after been vaccinating.
On Tuesday, Rep. Hernandez said she was back to the emergency room after her fever and migraine returned. She thanked the staff at Dignity Health for putting her in a mix of medications to make her feel better.
Rep. Hernandez continues to talk about her journey on Twitter.
Last night I went to the ER due to my fever coming back & unbearable migraine. My body has reacted differently so I needed help. The amazing medical staff at @DignityHealthAZ immediately put me on a mix of medications/IVS; this morning, I'm🏡, and I feel 100x better. #COVID19
