Judge declares missing Yuma man dead

A judge rules William Hardy's death the day he went missing

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - A Yuma County Superior Court judge declares a missing man since 2019 officially dead.

62-year-old William Hardy was last seen driving his Chevy pick-up truck from his home on February 16, 2019, and was never seen again.

Border Patrol agents found Hardy's vehicle in a remote section of the Sonoran Desert 50 days after he went missing.

Last week, attorneys requested the judge to determine whether Hardy should be declared legally dead, adding the investigation led nowhere.

Court documents show it's impossible to determine a cause of death considering how Hardy's whereabouts are unknown and his body has not been found. Therefore, the judge declares Hardy dead the day he disappeared.
