YRMC confirms first employees with coronavirus
Three employees test positive
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma Regional Medical Center (YRMC) has confirmed three of its employees tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19).
The hospital says lab results conducted this week confirmed three of its employees have tested positive.
“First and foremost, we wish our employees well and support them during their healing and recovery,” said Dr. Robert Trenschel, President and CEO of Yuma Regional Medical Center.
Trenschel says due to the work of healthcare professionals, hospital staff at YRMC are at a higher risk to contract the illness.
YRMC released a statement saying every precaution is currently being implemented in order to keep patients and staff safe from the virus.
The hospital is not revealing further details on the infected staff members saying:
"We understand that our community may be curious to know additional details. In alignment with HIPPA privacy laws and out of respect for our employees and their families, we must maintain the same level of confidentiality that we do for patients."
