IMPERIAL, CA (KYMA, KECY) - With high winds forecast throughout Sunday, fair officials took the action to close the fair for the day.

"Had the fair opened, at best, only half of the carnival rides would have been operating, " said Chief Executive Officer Alan Phillips.

Phillips said the fair is on track to resume its normal operating hours Monday.

It is yet unclear whether which -- if any-- of today's cancelled events will be rescheduled.
