SAFFORD, AZ (KYMA, KECY) - The Arizona Department of Public Safety (DPS) is investigating a deadly rollover crash east of Globe, AZ.

DPS says single-vehicle rollover involves an Eastern Arizona College (EAC) van carrying seven high school students and one EAC student.

The crash happened just after 10 p.m. Friday, shutting down U.S. 70 in both directions. DPS says the van was traveling eastbond and crossed over into westbound traffic.

The van then left the road and rolled over. Three high school students were ejected from the vehicle and died from their injuries.

DPS says the man driving the van and five remaining students sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The students were returning from an automotive class taught at the Gila Institute for Technology program.

The portion of U.S. 70 was reopened after 1 a.m. Saturday.

The victims names have not been released, and the cause of crash is currently under investigation.
