Arizona and California unemployment rates drop in October
California rate falls to record low in October
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) -Â Both Arizona and California saw drops in unemployment in October, with California's rate falling to a record-low for the second month in a row.
The California Employment Development Department says it added 23,000 non-farm payroll jobs for October, causing California's record fell to a record-low of 3.9 percent.
The previous record was 4 percent in September. The state's rate has now been expanding for a time period of nearly ten years, reports the Associated Press.
Arizona's unemployment rate decreased to 4.8 percent, adding 31,600 jobs in October.
The Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity reports the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 4.8 percent in October, from 4.9 the previous month.
Out of the 31,000 non-farm jobs added, most were added in trade, transportation, and utilities (9,000 jobs), professional and business services (6,100 jobs), leisure and hospitality (5600 jobs), and health services (4,000 jobs), reports thecentersquare.com.
As of October, Arizona has added over 70,000 non-farm jobs in 2019.
The national unemployment rate is at 3.6 percent, up one percent from the previous month.
