(KYMA, KECY) - Multiple senators introduced an act on Wednesday to reinstate veterans who were affected by a recent federal employee purge.

Arizona Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ), along with Senators Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and Andy Kim (D-NJ), introduced the Protect Veteran Jobs Act.

This follows a recent purge on federal employees under President Donald Trump and Elon Musk.

“We made a promise to veterans that after they serve our country, they will get the support they’ve earned. What Trump and Musk are doing is breaking that promise,” said Kelly. “After putting their lives on the line for our country, these veterans recommitted to serve our country again, and the government shouldn’t turn its back on them. Those who have been carelessly tossed aside by this administration should be reinstated.”

The Act would also require the Trump Administration to report to Congress about veterans who were laid off from federal employment and why they were removed in the first place.
