Railroad debate may open conversations to 4 day work week
Washington DC-
Railroad workers aren't the only Americans without paid sick days.
More than twenty percent of US workers are in the same position, according to government data.
As the threat of a rail worker strike winds down, the debate over paid sick leave is heating up.
External pressure from examples set by other countries only exacerbates the problem.
Great Britain began a test pilot of the four day work week, which many analysts predict will be the next step should paid sick leave be successful.
Great Britain is already entitled to 7 days a year of paid sick leave, and the 4 day work week efforts began shortly after that measure was put in place.
The prime minister of Finland has also set a goal to implement the four day work week by the end of next year, and Canada just implemented their extended paid sick leave policy as well, changing the allotted days to an entire week off for illness.
