Vice President Harris continues trip in Philippines to strengthen relationship

(KYMA, KECY/ NBC News) - Vice President Kamala Harris continues her visit to the Philippines Tuesday, paying a visit to the Tagburos village, a fishing village in the province of Palawan.

It is part of a three-day trip to an Asian ally that is central to America's bid to counter China's increasingly assertive stance in the region.

Her visit to the area is the highest-level trip by a Biden Administration official.

Beijing claims almost all of the South China Sea, which is believed to contain massive oil and gas deposits and through which billions of dollars in trade passes each year.
