Congress approves permanent statues of Justices Ginsburg, O’Connor at the Capitol
U.S. Sen. Sinema's bipartisan-backed bill makes its way to Pres. Biden's desk to be signed
WASHINGTON (KYMA, KECY) - Permanent statues of Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sandra Day O'Connor may make the Capitol its home as the United States Senator Kyrsten Sinema's cosponsored bill was passed by Congress.
The bipartisan-backed bill is now headed for the President's desk for a final signature.
“Justice O’Connor and Justice Ginsburg paved the way for so many women in law and life. By permanently placing their statues in the U.S. Capitol, we’re honoring their legacy and reminding visitors to our nation’s Capitol that women can achieve their dreams through grit and determination,” Sinema said.
Sinema's legislation would make the Capitol the permanent home of the two statues.
Justices Ginsburg and O'Connor were the first two women who served on the U.S. Supreme Court.
