White House adds a dozen Chinese companies to trade blacklist

(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - A dozen Chinese companies were added to a trade blacklist by the U.S. Commerce Department.

The White House claims these companies could undermine U.S. national security.

U.S. officials fear emerging U.S. technologies could be used for quantum computing efforts that would support China’s military.

The Commerce Department says many of these firms have supported the modernization of China’s army.

In response to the new sanctions, the Chinese Foreign Ministry says it will take all necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interest of Chinese companies.
