Wednesday is National Chocolate Day

(CNN, KYMA) - It's time to honor one of the planet's favorite food items as Wednesday is National Chocolate Day.

Chocolate is made from the seed of the cacao tree and is fermented.

It's a popular flavor for a variety of products including cake and ice cream, and of course, it's been made into countless chocolate bars.

There are five types of chocolate: Unsweetened baking chocolate, sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, white chocolate and ruby chocolate.

Historians say the earliest cultivation of cacao seeds was documented approximately around 1100 B.C.
