Florida man kayaks down flooded roadway

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (CBS, KYMA) - King tides flooded parts of Fort Lauderdale, Florida Tuesday, prompting one man to use a kayak instead of a car on local roadways.

Footage posted to X by @AdamClampitt shows submerged streets in the Rio Vista neighborhood of Fort Lauderdale, along with residents wading through the water.

"King tide flooding in Rio Vista, Fort Lauderdale this morning, near the Lauderdale Yacht Club. Cybertruck handled it like a boat with a better touchscreen," he wrote.

The City of Fort Lauderdale warned that "the highest tide of the year is predicted at approximately 9:45 am" Tuesday.

The National Weather Service Miami warned that coastal flooding will peak between Tuesday and Wednesday.
