Southwest Airlines to overhaul Rapid Rewards

(CNN, KYMA) - Southwest Airlines is saying goodbye to its A-list loyalty program.

Starting January 1, 2027, the carrier will introduce three new Rapid Rewards tiers: Silver, Gold and Platinum.

A-list members will move to Silver, while A-list Preferred becomes Gold. The new Platinum tier will offer unlimited companion pass trips.

Southwest is also adding rewards that members can earn before reaching the next tier, and credit card holders will have a faster path to Elite Status.

Other changes include the ability to use points for rental cars, starting next month.

In 2027, Southwest members will also be able to use points for seat selection and travel with new international airline partners.
