National Guardsman wounded in D.C. shooting

WASHINGTON (CNN, KYMA) - A National Guardsman is injured after a late night shooting on Capitol Hill.

D.C. Police said a fight broke out in a restaurant Sunday, with the altercation spilling outside into a nearby alley.

A group of National Guardsmen responded to the scene, with Interim Metro Police Chief Jeffrey Carroll saying the Guardsmen witnessed a man with a gun, commanding him to drop his weapon.

He allegedly refused and fired toward them, with one of the Guardsmen being shot in the leg.

The other three Guardsmen returned fire, wounding the suspect, who is in custody at the hospital.

Both the suspect and the injured Guardsman are expected to survive.
