Two dead in school bus crash in Florida

POLK COUNTY, Fla. (CBS, KYMA) - The Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) in Florida released video of the deadly school bus crash which left two people dead Monday morning.

Dashcam video from the bus shows a white Chevy Malibu crossing the double yellow line.

The car clipped the bus' rear tire, sending it crashing into a Jeep, killing the 26-year-old driver.

A student on the bus was also killed, a tenth grader, who officials said was going to have her first cheerleading practice later in the day.

Video from inside the bus shows the students and driver being tossed around as the vehicle flips over.

Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd praised the bus driver, 34-year-old Jessica Dye, for her quick actions.

"She pulls herself out of being wedged in this crash, pinned in, and immediately starts helping students on the bus. All the while, she's got her nine-year-old child with her," Sheriff Judd shared.

Judd said the investigation is ongoing, but cellphone data shows the driver of the Malibu, 23-year-old nursing student Maria Jemenez, was not using her phone at the time of the crash.

Investigators said she told them she does not remember what happened.
