Contractors trapped in storm drain in Illinois

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (NBC, KYMA) - In Illinois, severe weather trapped two contractors in a storm drain Monday, and one remains missing.

This happened at a construction area in Downers Grove.

Authorities say just before 1 p.m. Central, they were alerted that the two contractors were stuck in storm sewer underneath the road.

Firefighters were able to rescue one worker who was transported to an area hospital in good condition.

A second worker remained missing as of late Monday evening.

The Downers Grove Fire Department said it transitioned from rescue to a recovery operation, and that water conditions made additional search efforts "extremely dangerous."
