Over 20 people injured in New York home fires

(NBC, KYMA) - A five-alarm fire in Flushing, a neighborhood in Queens, New York, left at least 23 injured and one person who was taken to the hospital has died.

The New York Fire Department was alerted to the fire shortly before 10 a.m. Eastern Saturday.

By noon, the fire jumped to two other buildings on 41 Road, between College Point Road and Frame Place.

At least 23 people were injured in the blaze and a 78-year-old woman who was transported to New York Presbyterian died at the hospital.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 1 p.m. Eastern.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
