Devastating flooding in Beaver, Utah

BEAVER, Utah (NBC, KYMA) - Residents of Beaver, Utah continue to clean up after devastating flooding hit the town Sunday.

The flooding was caused when heavy rain fell on the Cottonwood Fire burn scar, sending muddy water into the town.

Officials say some 200 homes in Beaver were impacted by the flooding, with some resident having to be rescued by chopper to reach safety.

Evacuation orders were still in place Monday. The Red Cross is on site providing aid at an emergency shelter at the town's high school.

One resident said she has never seen anything like this before.

"It was pretty devastating for the whole area. I mean, we haven't had ever had anything like this happen before. This is the very first time, we've had bad storms and stuff, but this is definitely the worst," said local resident Carolyn Maycock.
