CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Hazy sunrise in South Florida

DANIA BEACH, Fla. (CBS, KYMA) - A plume of Saharan dust arrived in South Florida Wednesday, set to lower air quality and visibility across the Gulf Coast.

Footage taken by @pbyrond shows a hazy sunrise in Dania Beach, just south of Fort Lauderdale, Wednesday morning.

"Good Wednesday morning X, Saharan ‘Dust in the Wind’ for the golden hour at Dania Beach," he wrote in a post on X.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), this phenomenon happens "multiple times every summer," with the dust leading to "hazier skies, lower rain chances, and higher temperatures."

The NWS said "hot and dry" conditions would persist across South Florida throughout the day Wednesday.
