Heavy rain causes New Jersey store’s roof to partially collapse

OAKHURST, N.J. (NBC, KYMA) - Heavy rains in New Jersey Monday, causing the roof of a BJ's Wholesale Club to partially collapse, temporarily trapping two people inside.

Rain poured in, spreading down the aisles just after 11 a.m. Eastern Monday.

According to police, there were 27 people inside the store when the ceiling fell, and two were "partially entrapped but were able to free themselves and safely exit the structure."

No injuries were immediately reported.

More than 60 million people across the mid-Atlantic and northeast were subject to flood watches Monday afternoon.

At least three inches of rain have fallen on nearby areas in the last 24 hours.
