Fire in New Orleans French Quarter

NEW ORLEANS, La. (NBC, KYMA) - The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a fire in the French Quarter on Saturday night.

Police say they were notified around 10:36 p.m. that an underground electrical transformer exploded near the intersection of Conti and Bourbon streets, resulting in a fire.

First responders and Entergy responded to the scene.

The power company said at one point an individual threatened to shot an Entergy lineman with a gun.
This temporarily delayed crews in resolving the power outage.

Police were notified and the incident is under investigation.

Officials say no injuries were reported. Power has since been restored to the nearly 900 customers effected.
