Seven families file lawsuit after high school resource officer allegedly conducted strip searches on their children

ATTALA COUNTY, Miss. (NBC, KYMA) - Seven families with children at a Mississippi high school have filed a federal lawsuit, alleging a McAdams High School resource officer conducted strip searches on their children.

The incident took place on February 10 at McAdams High School where a school resource officer conducted strip searches on multiple students after a vape alarm allegedly went off.

In the lawsuit against the district, the plaintiffs claim no vapes or contraband were found on any student when the strip search was conducted.

One parent claims, "One at a time, they were taken into the resource office and they were all searched and strip searched and made to stoop down, bend over, their genitals were showing."

Another parent shared, "The principal, the superintendent, the assistant principal and the resource officer, I want to see them gone because they obviously do not care about our children."

The case is being handled in the Northern District of Mississippi's Federal Court Division.

The school districts legal counsel, Nicholas McClain, confirmed the lawsuit had been filed, but declined to comment further on legal strategy.
