Israeli strike damages hospital, injured 30 staff

TYRE, Lebanon (CBS, KYMA) - The Red Cross in Lebanon said 30 staff at a hospital in Tyre were injured in an Israeli strike Monday.

Newly released footage shows damage at Jabal Amel Hospital, including in the ICU.

The attack caused "significant damage…to the emergency department and intensive care unit," according to the World Health Organization's (WHO) representative in Lebanon, Dr Abdinasir Abubakar.

The Israeli military said the hospital was not the intended target, rather Hezbollah infrastructure was.

"It should be emphasized that the hospital was not targeted and was apparently affected incidentally as a result of the strikes," a spokesperson told the Times of Israel.

The WHO said it has verified almost 190 attacks on healthcare infrastructure that have killed 128 workers and 223 others, including 11 attacks in the past week.
