19 injured following stampede in South Carolina

ATLANTIC BEACH, S.C. (CBS, KYMA) - 19 revelers were injured in a stampede in the early hours of Sunday as they were attending an annual motorbike event in Atlantic Beach, South Carolina.

Home surveillance footage belonging to Amanda Henry shows the moment the crowd starting running shortly after 1 a.m. Eastern.

"The situation appears to have been triggered when an individual began running, causing a brief chain reaction within the crowd that lasted only seconds," according to local news reports citing city officials. "At no time were there any confirmed fights, weapons, or direct threats to public safety."

Horry County Fire Rescue reported that 19 patients had been found and checked for injuries, none believed to be life-threatening.
