Large fire breaks out at commercial building in the U.K.

(CBS, KYMA) - Residents were urged to stay indoors after a large fire broke out at a commercial building in Greater Manchester Friday evening, according to fire officials.

Emergency services responded to the blaze around 6 p.m. GMT, which sent thick smoke into the air and prompted warnings for nearby residents to keep windows and doors shut and "avoid the area."

News outlets, citing fire officials, said the fire was becoming contained late Friday, but firefighters were expected to remain on site overnight as efforts continued.
