Wednesday marks 13 years since Boston Marathon bombing

BOSTON (NBC, KYMA) - Wednesday marks the 13th anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings,

Two homemade pressure cooker bombs exploded 14 seconds and 210 yards apart near the finish line of the annual race, in an act of terrorism that shocked the city and the country.

Three people were killed in the blasts and hundreds more were injured, including many who lost limbs to the explosive devices.

Two brothers were later found to be responsible for the attack.

One was ultimately killed following a shootout with police while the second was arrested, tried and convicted.
