Police in New York saves man suffering cardiac arrest at a diner

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. (CBS, KYMA) - Police officers were thanked for their life-saving efforts after administering CPR to a man in cardiac arrest at a diner in Old Westbury, New York on March 17.

Footage from the Old Westbury Police Department (OWPD) shows the moment Officer John Kassebaum pulled 75-year-old Phillip Amico from his seat and began performing CPR.

Police said that when they arrived at the diner to attend to Amico's medical emergency, he had no pulse and went into cardiac arrest.

Two more officers helped with the CPR, and with a defibrillator, police said.

Three weeks after the incident, Amico met with the officers who saved his life, and thanked them for their work.

OWPD said it would present the officers with an award for their efforts.
