More than 300 TSA officers quit since the start of DHS shutdown

(NBC, KYMA) - As the partial government shutdown drags on, more and more TSA workers are taking drastic measures.

According to a senior TSA official, more than 300 fed-up TSA officers have quit since the start of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown last month.

The agency official also says that the number of unscheduled call-outs has more than doubled at many major airports across the country.

This comes as the busy spring break travel season kicks into high gear, with massive security lines and wait times worsening.

Most TSA officers are considered essential workers and come this Friday, they will miss their second paycheck.

With no end to the shutdown in sight, the concern is that more officers may be on the verge of quitting.
