New report says breast cancer deaths fell 40%

(NBC, KYMA) - Breast cancer survival continues to improve in the U.S. as a new report from Lancet says the death rates have fallen by more than 40%.

The study from 1990 to 2023 showed the rate of new diagnoses dropping by nearly 30%.

Advanced screening and early treatments have also made breast cancer less deadly in the U.S. However, lower-income countries still struggle with a breast cancer death rate of more than 80%.
