One dead, three injured in mall shooting in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (NBC, KYMA) - One person is dead and three others are injured after a shooting late Monday night in Baltimore.

A heavy police presence surrounded the area of Liberty Heights Avenue, near Mondawmin Mall.

Officers responded to the scene and found two vehicles that had crashed in the mall parking lot. Two people inside those vehicles were suffering from gunshot wounds.

As investigators canvassed the area, two more victims were located nearby.

Multiple streets were shut down as detectives processed what officials described as an extensive crime scene.

"It looks like the shootout. It was a shootout. It looked like it occurred right here behind us, where the two vehicles are crashed together," said Commissioner Richard Worley with the Baltimore Police Department.

The investigation into what led to the apparent shootout remains ongoing.
