CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Highway sign in Nashville nearly crushes semi-truck cab

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (CBS, KYMA) - Officials shut down part of a Nashville interstate on Monday after a sign over the roadway collapsed.

Footage taken by Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) communications officer Erin Zeigler shows the scene on northbound Interstate 65 in Davison County, where the toppled sign can be seen denting a white semi-truck.

"Please avoid this area as we are still working to get this sign fixed as quick as possible," TDOT said on X. "Crews are continuing to make sure the detour off the ramp is passable."

Officials said the northbound lanes were opened and said the roadway "was extensively plowed and salted before reopening."

Storyful reached out to TDOT to find out the condition of the truck driver, but the department said they were not notified about injuries related to the incident.
