Bruce Springsteen criticizes ICE during concert in New Jersey
RED BANK, N.J. (NBC, KYMA) - Legendary rocker Bruce Springsteen drew headlines this weekend, taking aim at federal immigration enforcement during a surprise performance in New Jersey.
At the Light of Day Winterfest in Red Bank Saturday night, Springsteen paused his set to condemn the federal presence in Minneapolis and to honor Renee Good, the Minnesota mother who was killed by an ICE agent earlier this month.
In a passionately delivered introduction to his song "The Promised Land," Springsteen accused immigration agents of using what he called "Gestapo tactics" and urged the crowd to send a message to President Donald Trump, echoing calls from Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey that ICE should leave the city.
He described the moment as a tribute to American ideals and dedicated the performance to Good's memory, saying the country's values are being tested like never before.
