CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Dog escapes from shelter in West Virginia

HUNTINGTON, W.V. (CBS, KYMA) - A clever dog named Dawson surprised shelter staff after pulling off an impressive escape by unlocking his kennel and opening the shelter's front door to get outside on Monday, footage shows.

The video was captured by the Huntington Cabell Wayne Animal Shelter in Huntington, West Virginia.

According to news outlet WSAZ, the shelter said, "Dawson is a good boy but needs a loving home to go to — not a life on the streets."

The shelter told Storyful that Dawson had not been found as of Tuesday afternoon, and the staff is asking the public for help finding him.
