West Virginia University takes a moment of silence for National Guard member shot and killed in Washington, D.C.

MORGANTOWN, W.V. (CBS, KYMA) - A moment of silence was held for National Guard member Sarah Beckstrom ahead of a college football game in West Virginia on November 29, footage shows.

Beckstrom died from her injuries following a shooting in Washington, D.C. last week.

Fellow West Virginia National Guard member Andrew Wolfe was also shot in the attack and while he remains in serious condition, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey (R) said, in a press conference Monday, he is improving.

Footage captured by @pbandjilly__ shows pictures of Beckstrom and Wolfe on the jumbotron as the West Virginia Mountaineers prepared to face the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

"Really touching moment during the #WVU pregame today — moment of silence and prayer for Andrew Wolfe, Sarah Beckstrom, their families, and the @WVNationalGuard members in DC," she wrote in a post on X.

The announcer is heard calling on audience members to keep Wolfe in their prayers before prompting a moment of silence for Beckstrom.
