Hong Kong apartment fire death toll rises to nearly 150 people

HONG KONG (NBC, KYMA) - The death toll in the deadly Hong Kong apartment fire has grown to nearly 150 people.

Authorities confirmed Sunday at least 146 people have now died in the inferno, and the number is expected to rise.

Meanwhile, 40 people are still missing and 100 others remain unaccounted for as search efforts continue.

Authorities have arrested 11 people in connection with the blaze as an investigation into potential regulatory negligence continues.

The cause of the fire also remains under investigation.
