Sea otter enjoys new habitat at Cincinnati Zoo

CINCINNATI (CBS, KYMA) - A sea otter enjoyed whirling around her new habitat at the Cincinnati Zoo on November 19 after the zoo welcomed sea otters for the first time in 150 years.

Footage released by the Cincinnati Zoo shows Chloe, a "retired" 13-year-old female sea otter, spinning and flipping around the zoo's Sea Otter Coast habitat.

"Chloe is flippin' out! You otter get to the zoo," the facility joked on X.

Chloe shares the habitat with Kevin, a one-year-old male sea otter who was rescued after being stranded as a pup. Both Chloe and Kevin joined the zoo earlier that week.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), sea otters turn and roll around in the water to groom themselves and insulate their fur.
