Strong solar flare brings auroras to North America

(CBS, KYMA) - The "strongest" solar flare of the year so far brought severe geomagnetic activity to large portions of Canada and northern US states Tuesday.

According to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, the geomagnetic activity reached level G4, the second highest level, bringing northern lights to parts of North America up until November 13.

Footage captured by Claudette Gabbs shortly after 7:00 p.m. Central shows pink and green hues dancing over Ste Anne, in the Canadian province of Manitoba.

"The aurora borealis are out at 7:08pm," she wrote in posts on X.
