Tourists and residents survey damage caused by Hurricane Melissa

(CBS, KYMA) - Tourists and residents in Jamaica were surveying the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa, after it made landfall on the island as a Category 5 storm Tuesday.

Footage taken by X user @rj_smith_3 shows significant damage at the Hotel Catalonia in Montego Bay Wednesday morning.

"The damage here is catastrophic, I wouldn't wish yesterday on my worst enemy," he wrote on X. "Some of the scariest moments of my life."

By Wednesday morning, Melissa was a Category 2 hurricane affecting Cuba, according to the National Hurricane Center.
