Louvre Museum reopens days after dramatic jewel heist

PARIS (CBS, KYMA) - Three days after a dramatic jewel heist, the iconic Louvre Museum in Paris has officially reopened to the public.

Long lines of visitors filed past the museum's Apollo Gallery, which remains closed as police continue their investigation.

Authorities say thieves broke into the Louvre Sunday before making off with an estimated $102 million worth of royal jewels.

The robbery is stirring up lots of emotion in France and beyond.

"What we see in movies, it's so difficult. But in reality, it was so easy. It's creepy," said Adriana, a tourist from Brazil.

"I hope they find the people who did it...and, I hope they don't melt down the gold," said Jonathan and Nora Contract, tourists from the U.S.

The robbers are still on the loose.

A government minister insists the building's security system was working properly at the time of the heist.
