Ms. Rachel releases new children’s book to help families get more sleep
(CBS, KYMA) - Ms. Rachel is out with a new children's book to help kids and their families get more sleep at night.
It's called, "Ms. Rachel and Bean and the Bedtime Routine: Encouraging a Calm and Comforting Good Night."
The book includes a checklist of things parents and children can do at night to get ready for bed, like brushing your teeth, reading a book, and more.
The child educator and social media star, whose full name is Rachel Accurso, wrote the book with her husband, Mr. Aron.
The couple have two kids of their own, and they told CBS Mornings giving kids a routine can help put them at ease.
"Like any parents, we have times where it gets off sometimes like maybe you go on vacation, or you have like a transition to school and it kind of gets off, but routines help kids feel safe [and] secure," Ms. Rachel shared.
According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, preschoolers need up to 13 hours a day, including naps.
Children aged six to 12 should sleep nine to 12 hours, and teenagers benefit from eight to 10 hours a night, but studies have found as many as half of children aren't getting enough sleep.
