Kaiser Permanente workers end five-day strike

(NBC, KYMA) - Kaiser Permanente is welcoming back 30,000 employees to work after a five-day strike ended early Sunday morning.

The company is resuming normal operations, and they say their focus is "on continued delivery of high-quality, affordable care to our members and communities."

According to Kaiser, negotiations will continue Wednesday on economic issues, specifically wages for employees.

The union representing the workforce is seeking a 25% wage increase over four years and additional staffing.

Kaiser has offered a contract proposal that includes 21.5% in total base wage increases over four years, and enhanced medical plans and retiree benefits.

Kaiser Permanente serves nearly 13 million people nationwide.
