Amazon Books editorial director shares her picks for books to read during October

(CBS, KYMA) - It's October and spooky season has officially returned, especially if anyone is in the mood for a spine-tingling novel.

Amazon Books Editorial Director Sarah Gelman appeared on "CBS Mornings" to discuss her picks, including Freida McFadden's new psychological thriller "The Intruder" which will be available Tuesday.

"Play Nice" by Rachel Harrison, about three sisters who inherit their haunted childhood home, also made the list along with the first installment in the new chapter book series "Jasper Rabbit's Creepy Tales! Troubling Tonsils."

"The main character is Charlie Marmot. He's going to get his tonsils out and he's super excited to put them in a jar and take them to school, but something very creepy happens before he's going to take them to school. This is appropriate for all ages. It says the intro says you're going to pee your pants," Gelman shared.

Gelman also recommends "Girl Dinner" by Olivie Blake if anyone is in the mood for a dark satire, or the psychological sci-fi thriller, "The Book of Guilt" by Catherine Chidgey, which takes place in an alternate world where no one won World War II.
