CAUGHT ON CAMERA: Dallas Zoo introduces giraffe calf

DALLAS (CBS, KYMA) - The Dallas Zoo welcomed a giraffe calf in late September, with recently released footage showing the healthy male taking a few wobbly steps in an enclosure.

According to the zoo, the reticulated giraffe calf was born on September 24 to mother Katie and father Tebogo.

"Weighing in at 156 pounds and already standing 5 feet 8 inches tall, the little one made a big entrance," the zoo wrote. "True to his species’' reputation, he was quick to his feet! Standing within an hour, nursing shortly after, and even attempting a few speedy (if wobbly) laps around the barn."

The zoo also said mother and calf were doing well under the close watch of the animal care team.
