Two dead, five injured in mass shooting in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (NBC, KYMA) - A mass shooting early Sunday morning in Indianapolis left two people dead and five others injured.
This comes as the city is experiencing a surge in violence.
The latest shooting happened on the northwest side of the city at around 2:15 a.m. Eastern and investigators are on the hunt for suspects.
It took place in the area of Shore Terrace, right off Interstate 465, where police say first responders found five people shot outside in the parking lot of this liquor store.
Two were pronounced dead, and three were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
In the next few hours, two more people from the same shooting showed up with serious injuries at a hospital and a fire station.
The city's police chief issued a statement earlier in the weekend addressing the recent violence as three people were shot Friday night, and two police officers dodged gunfire while investigating reports of a man with a gun.
It's unclear if they are connected, and so far, police have not made any arrests.
