Plane make hard landing at Sint Maarten

(CBS, KYMA/KECY) - The landing gear of a WestJet Boeing reportedly collapsed as the plane was arriving at Sint Maarten Sunday, according to news reports.

A livestream recorded by @SHOWMECaribbean captured the moment the plane touched down on the runway at Princess Juliana International Airport.

WestJet said, in a statement, emergency crews responded immediately and used foam as a precaution.

"The aircraft's slides were activated, and all guests and crew safely evacuated and were transported to the terminal," WestJet said.

The company said that there were no reported injuries and all travelers aboard the plane were accounted for.

"At this time, we are awaiting confirmation on the exact nature of the incident," WestJet added.

The airport was closed for the rest of the day Sunday and on Monday morning because the plane was still on the runway, according to Facebook posts from the airport.

However, the airport posted to social media saying operations have resumed.
