Dogs in the United Kingdom compete in surfing competition

POOLE, England (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Dozens of daring dogs hit the waves in the U.K. over the weekend for a surfing competition that made a huge splash.

Pups and their owners showed off their skills in a 50-meter sprint on a paddle board, showcasing balance, bravery, and plenty of personality.

A whippet named Margo stole the show, surfing her way to the championship title.

"Amazing. Awesome. Totally stoked. Just, yeah lost for words, I can't…Honestly it's down to Margo and her being so patient on the board with me and yeah just dug deep and had some fun with it," said Carl Barnes, Margo's owner.

Whether they won or wiped out, pups seemed to soak up the spotlight, and the canine competitors made history, breaking three Guinness World Records at the annual event.
