Heavy rain floods roadways in Texas

AMARILLO, Texas (CBS, KYMA/KECY) - Residents in Amarillo, Texas woke up to flooded roads Friday after over two inches of rain fell throughout parts of the city the night before.

Footage filmed by Roger Hodges shows fast-moving floodwaters spilling over a road near the Palisades community in Amarillo around 7:40 a.m. Central.

Randall County Sheriff's Office warned motorists to avoid the area near Timbercreek Crossing and Palisades Crossing due to the flooding.

"Water is currently about two feet deep over the roadway and poses a hazard to drivers," officials said.
