One dead, two injured after fire causes Philadelphia rowhomes to collapse

PHILADELPHIA (NBC, KYMA/KECY) - One person is dead and two others were hospitalized after an overnight fire caused several Philadelphia rowhomes to collapse.

It happened in the city's Nicetown section Sunday just before 5:00 a.m. Eastern, and involved three of the rowhomes.

Officials said there were also secondary collapses of surrounding homes.

A K9 recovered the remains of one person while searching through the rubble, and an 82-year-old woman and a 63-year-old woman were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation and burns.

Over ten people who live in the area were told to evacuate.

Officials are still working to determine the cause of the collapse.
